Head Study #152

Today I present another monochrome copy of a Philip de Laszlo painting of cantatrice Germaine Gien, 1921.  I think "cantatrice" is a fancy way of writing "singer".

Paper: Arches, 140 lb, hot press, 15 x 22"

Paint: Home made PB82 Maya Blue Dark, no ox gall.

Head Study #151

Today I present a monochrome copy of a Philip de Laszlo portrait of Sophica Jurdens-Roidi, Comtesse des Isnards, 1919.  From the de Laszlo Archive Trust, "At least two of de László’s portraits of the Jurgens family were destroyed during the Second World War, making this an important survival."  Sophie was born is Greece in 1892, and later married a Dutchman whom she met on a skiing holiday in St Moritz, 1918.

Paper: Arches, 140 lb, hot press, 15 x 22"

Paint: Home made PB82 Maya Blue Dark, no ox gall.
