Figure Study #1

Well, I guess I'll be doing a bunch of figure studies too.  I might as well stick with the titling format.

Head Study #13

From another film noir screen capture.  These big ones take a long time.

Head Study #12

Here is a screen cap of Joan Bennett from the movie "Scarlet Street" (1945).  I feel comfortable with this size now.  All the photos have the same shade of blue.  It's amazing how the camera has them look so different.

Head Study #11

Here is a copy of a John Singer Sargent charcoal drawing.  I'm pleased.  Although I would prefer being able to do this in a larger size.  I'll get there.

My Watercolor Easel Kit

Over the winter I have been planning to adapt a James Gurney type light diffuser as an umbrella replacement.  It seemed like it would make a nice windproof/resistant rig.  After many set backs, I've finally come up with a working prototype of a wind resistant easel.  Saturday's forecast calls for wind so I'll make a real world test then.  In the mean time, here are a few pictures.

Head Study #10

I was going to try a multi color on this one, but I somehow lost track.

Head Study #9

Here is a larger study from a film noir screen capture.  I'm still not used to working in this larger size.

Head Study #7

Here is a screen cap done in monochrome.  The paint lifted well for the shiny parts of the hair.  It's an old screen capture with a low pixel count so I could not see much detail.  The paint is also a little funky, changing when it dries and with different light.  It's actually made from ground up geodes.

Head Study #6

There is no Head Study #5, as it was so awful.  I tried to do each stage in a different color.  The initial set up in yellow.  The next stage in red and later a cool red, followed by purple in the last stage.
