I planned to stretch a batch of paper yesterday and quickly finished this one off to add to the cue. I had to fix an eye at one point. But a good learning exercise.
Here is a copy of a John Signer Sargent charcoal portrait. I'm somewhat pleased with the result. Given more practice with the brush I think I can replicate one of Sargent's mugs.
At some time into it I noticed the right eye was too high. So here is my attempt to lower it just a bit. But maybe the right eye was fine and the left merely needed to be raised a bit.
This is from a film noir screen cap of Francois Prevost. The smaller size (less than 15 x 22") is proving to be an easier jump for me. The varying daylight is having such a diverse result perhaps I should photograph these under electric lights for consistency.
