Alphonse Mucha Model

I believe this old photograph is from Alphonse Mucha's studio of one of his models.  I thought I would give it a try.  This is the 2nd pass on this 8 x 12" B&W.

Color Portrait

This is the start of a color pin up girl.  I was mainly trying to establish the big masses (background, face, and hair).

Ziegfeld Girl

This is the third pass on the Ziegfeld girl where I concentrated on the hair and face.

Sunday"s Session

Continuing with this portrait of James Dean.  This session I worked on refining the face and some of the background.  The dimensions are 12 x 18" and it's still a challenge to get that much paint up at one time.

Next is this color pin up, where I worked on everywhere except the hand.  I'll concentrate on that and the hair next time.  When I see these pictures at this thumb nail size I'm starting to see a few mistakes that I couldn't see in real life.  I concentrate on that next time too.

Saturday's Session

Returning from two back to back colds, I went with this black and white pin up photo I got from the internet.  I picked it because I thought it provided petty good shadows to work with.  It's the third pass on this study.
