Head Study #139

Tonight I present a portrait by John Singer Sargent, Lady Agnew of Lochnaw, 1892.  While his was in full color, I did this in this duotone phase I'm going through.

Paper: Arches, 140 lb, cold press, 15 x 22"

Head Study #138

Tonight I present a portrait of Charles Evans Hughes.  Another one of those colorized John Singer Sargent style... Nope!  I fooled you.  Sargent never did one of Hughes.  Phillip de Laszlo did, but not Sargent.  Anyways, I thought I would give this a try from a photograph from 1921.  Hughes was an interesting fellow, Secretary of State, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and lost the election to Woodrow Wilson.  I think he was the last candidate to run for President with a goatee.
