Head Study #56

Here is a go at John Singer Sargent's charcoal drawing of Edith, Marchioness of Londonderry (1913).  Again, I'm trying to get used to working in this larger size, 18 x 24".  And then, trying to figure out exactly the effect I want and how to get it.  A bunch of these and I'll get there.

Head Study #55

Here is a copy of a John Singer Sargent charcoal drawing done in oil.  Over the next few weeks I'll be trying to do several of these.  At first, to get used to putting up the required paint for the size (18 x 24") and then to get the effect I wish to get.

Head Study #54

This is from a large scan of a silent film actress Dorothy Janis.  I'll be working on a 18 x 24" sheet now to try to get used to putting up the paint necessary for a full sized portrait.
