Head Study #124

Tonight I present a monotone copy of an old photograph of Princess Marina of Greece, 1920.   I had trouble with her left eye where I moved it around a few times.  But this paint has an easy lifting characteristic where it was possible to do that.  I noticed that this paint, cobalt violet, had a white tinge so I think it has a bit of white mixed in where I can't get a darker mass tone.  So I'll try the next one in ultramarine blue where it is a single pigment and I can get full strength.

Paper: NY Central, 140 lbs, hot pressed, 15 x 22"
